Not the bad kind of water, but the good kind that comes with rain to fill our lake back up – now we have just over four feet to go. Our channel is again a safe haven for ducks. The most beautiful part, however, is that Lewis our white egret is back. Now, he and Billy Ray the Blue Heron can continue their territorial disputes right on our bank.

 While we are partial to Billy Ray (after all, he was here first), there’s no denying the stark white contrast of Lewis as he flies in struts along the muddy clay banks.

 Now, it’s time to bring in the “tender young” deck plants – the next two nights will go below freezing – very unusual for an East Texas spring, we think. Hans the MinPin is in front of his special little space heater right beside my computer, so all is well with his world!
